Trailer suspension does not usually fail dramatically. It degrades, the trailer starts riding badly or sitting unevenly, and then an air bag lets go somewhere inconvenient. Energy Transport Solutions repairs trailer suspension on site across the Houston-to-Conroe corridor, on tank trailers and dry equipment alike.
What we work on
- Air bags — blown, split, perished and leaking bags on air-ride trailers
- Hangers and brackets — cracked, worn and damaged mounting hardware
- Bushings — the wear item behind most of the noise and play that develops over time
- Levelling valves — trailers sitting low, sitting high, or refusing to level
- Shocks and mounting hardware — worn units and the damage they cause elsewhere
- Spring suspensions — on equipment that is not air-ride
Why loaded corridor work is hard on suspension
Weight is the obvious factor and it is not the whole story. A loaded tank trailer running between the Houston terminals and points north is heavy, but what wears suspension is the cycling — repeated loading and unloading of components through stop-and-go traffic, over rough pavement and through the constant speed changes that heavy freight volume on I-45 produces.
Gulf Coast heat ages rubber. Air bags, bushings and shock seals are all rubber-dependent, and they simply do not last as long here as they do in cooler climates. A fleet running this corridor should expect suspension attention on a shorter cycle than the maintenance schedule assumes.
Uneven wear tells you something. A trailer that consistently sits unevenly, wears tyres unevenly, or rides differently loaded than empty is usually reporting a suspension fault before that fault becomes a roadside call. Those signs are worth acting on.
How the repair runs
- Describe the symptom. Sitting low on one side, not levelling, audible air loss, noise over bumps, uneven tyre wear. Each points somewhere different.
- We bring the likely parts. Air bags and bushings are predictable failures on this corridor and we carry for them.
- We check what caused it. A bag that blew because a hanger is cracked will blow again if only the bag is replaced.
- We repair on site, at your yard, at a terminal, or on the road.
Serving Houston to Conroe and nearby
We work the freight corridor north of Houston: I-45 through Spring, The Woodlands, Conroe and Willis; US-59 and I-69 through Humble and New Caney; SH-249 toward Tomball; and the Grand Parkway between them. That covers the terminals and yards on Houston's north side and the industrial ring around Loop 336 where a great deal of trailer equipment parks.
Suspension is high on the list of work worth doing before it becomes urgent. An air bag replaced at your yard during scheduled downtime is a routine job. The same bag failing on I-45 with a loaded tank behind it is a very different afternoon, and it frequently takes tyres and brake components with it.
